Housing Services
Affordable Housing Program Serving Knox, Holmes, Coshocton, and Ashland Counties
The Affordable Housing Program offers a wide variety of housing opportunities for residents in the Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland service area and aims to make every effort to provide decent, safe, affordable housing. Rental units and affordable home ownership are two major programs offered. “Lincoln Terrace” is a 40 unit apartment complex in Ashland county which offers 2 and 3 bedroom units. “Loudon Bluffs” is a 40 unit senior citizen housing development also in Ashland county consisting of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. “Centerburg Courts” offers 36 garden-style 3 bedroom family apartments in Knox county. Both Lincoln Terrace and Centerburg Courts have been constructed in the past 15 years. In Coshocton county, the “Heritage” offers 52 units in 1, 2, & 3 bedroom floor plans. Holmes county is home to the “Duck Pond” a uniquely shaped 3 unit rental facility for low-income senior citizens.
In addition to rental communities, the Affordable Housing Program assists individuals with the American dream of homeownership. The “Apple Valley” project enabled six low to moderate income families to acquire their own newly built home in Knox county. This project was replicated in Centerburg with new construction single family homes called “Heart of Ohio” Homes. Twenty-five 3 and 4 bedroom homes were built for residents at or below 35%, 50%, or 60% the area median income. Handicap accessible homes were also constructed as well. Hillside Apartments provided Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland CAC with a unique opportunity to provide safe decent affordable housing to Knox County residents. This 45 unit complex was in desperate need of improvements as many of the units were uninhabitable. In 2007 a renovation project began which totally gutted all housing complexes to completely renovate each unit. Renovations have been completed with the end result being beautifully renovated housing. Hillside has 3 and 4 bedroom apartments under the guidelines of Section 8 Housing.
